One of the articles also pointed out changing the history curriculum to favor certain ideas and remove others. The very fact that they want to make history " FAVOR" something is causing a " BIAS" To occur. And then on top of this they want to replace our minority history with this Bias stretched history. These minority groups history is also the most objective history we have. Why would anyone want to replace factual objective history with Favor sum Bias history? Maybe, they just want to vaporize an important part of a minority's history from our minds. Maybe they just want to enter thoughts into our heads to Favor the institution they are trying to have represent. What ever the reason it sounds a little bit like the book 1984. Just think if these people succeed in their history altering task a new generation will see the world in a different light. For example, By replacing the entire history of the greatest civil rights lawyer ever, Thurgood Marshall, with a christian centered social gospel movement the world will be an extremely different place. A generation from now young people will not even know that there was once a time where schools were even segregated. To them Brown vs. board of education never happened. Instead their mind is filled with how great the social Gospel movement was for underprivileged people. Tying it back into 1984, it is as if Thurgood Marshell is VAPORIZED and then replaced with people worshiping the christian religion as if it is big brother. People will not know how they got to doing what they are doing. all they know is that they go to school with people of all different ethnicity's because Christianity allows them to. As 1984 fantasizes history can control everyone's perception of what is the truth. What they believe is the truth influences their actions. An objective Truth would be a great thing, but sadly it is impossible. It is our job as citizens of the United states of America to keep our "official history"as objective as possible.
Just remember..... YOU GOTTA BELIEVE!!!

Jaideep, i find myself thinking quite a bit about what you are saying. I think that you have brought up some very intriguing points with this blog. I agree a lot about how deleting certain people from history would miscontrue the thinking and ideas about the future generations. This would leave definitely leave a "BIAS" in the minds of the masses. Leaving prominent figures like Thurgood Marshall, Cesear Chavez, and Anne Hutchinson would truly be catartsophic. It could inevitably lead to a 1984esque setting. What i did find exceptional about your blog was the section about how people can read whatever they want but it is upto them to form their own opinion about the subject matter. This i find to be very true; whatever we read whenever we read it, it is upto us to determine how we will interpret it. Overalli think that you did very good on the blog and keep up the good work.
ReplyDeleteJaideep i really agree with your ideas and thoughts. I think that it is really true that no matter what there will always be bias in the subject of history because that's just the way human nature flows. I like the way you talked about forming our own opinions of history in a way, because in the end we are the ones who choose what we believe or what we don't a history book doesn't necessarily need to dicatate what we believe to be true history. Moreover i think that you are absolutely correct about the subject on minorities, if they are to be erased, then there history has already been altered and generations to come will only be generating newer ideas of history.
ReplyDeleteAll in all i think your thoughts were very good, and i agree with them, Good job my man deeP!
