First off I would just like to say Blogging ideas for an upcoming essay is great. We can read other peoples ideas and broaden our minds opinions of the topic. Sadly, at the moment I am unsure about the direction I would take on a brave new world essay. I haven't tried to find a deeper meaning to the book. I have just been reading "Passively" under Dartmouth's definition. But, I'm pretty sure my thesis would have something to do with utopia being an unreachable form of society. I might throw in something about the evils of a technological advanced society. A society that puts unisense, productivity, and profit over knowledge and reason. Not really sure on how I could build on those to ideas though. Maybe someone could leave a comment telling me how. Anyways, because I haven't finished the book yet a true theme that I can support has not been revealed to me yet. Who knows? maybe some wierd occurance can occur in the book that could change my intire outlook of the story. I'm hoping that happens because at the moment I don't know what to write. Lets hope I find a theme to support and write a thesis around soon. Maybe some of your blog post can tell me. I know this isn't 300 I'll revise this when I get some ideas of the book. Maybe the Html text in this picture will boost me to 300

Jaideep i think you might not be giving yourself enough credit. The ideas you came up for an essay were actually pretty good and something i might take a further look at. I really liked what you said about the utopia being an unreachable society. This might be true or it might not. I think it can be attained, if and only if each person were to give up their individuality (as i state in my blog). Productivity and profit are definitely put over logic and reason. They are not concerned about individual thoughts and beliefs more about the thought and belief of the society as a whole. But on the whole i think if you put some more time in reading the whole book you might come across some more creative ideas tat you can substantiate. But on the whole i think your blog this week was pretty good.
ReplyDeleteJaideep i think the fact that you like that we are using these blogs to in a way pre-write our essays is good. It good that you dont take this opportunity for granted. Also, i think that the ideas you have in general are headed in the right directions you have very good broad ideas now you just have to dig in with the shovel ha. I thought the way you used the word "unisense" was a very good term, it gave me some insight. But over all i think as long as you keep reading the book you will hopefully find a greater meaning to it and be able to establish more ideas from such. For example i really found this story to be ineteresting from the beggining and now that i can connect the story and the whole thing about writing an essay with a track i really like it makes it easier to come up with ideas and elaborate on them. so maybe you could find something as such and use it to your advantage.
